Channel 4 to carry Cuomo-Nixon debate; 'Wheel' and 'Jeopardy' shift to WNLO

WIVB-TV (Channel 4) is airing the debate tonight between Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon, the actress and activist who is challenging him in the Sept. 13 primary for the Democratic nomination in this November’s election.

It will air at 7 tonight, which is getting the 60-minute debate recorded at 5 p.m. from WCBS-TV in New York City.

Channel 4, the local CBS affiliate, most likely will be getting a lot of phone calls about the debate; it pre-empts two popular syndicated programs, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy,” on Channel 4. However, they will air at their regular times, 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., on Channel 4’s sister station WNLO-TV (CW23).
