Refurbished Buffalo General Medical Center lobby now open

Those who drop by the lobby of Buffalo General Medical Center will experience a renovated lobby.

Kaleida Health CEO Jody Lomeo and Buffalo General and Gates Vascular Institute President Chris Lane were among the hospital leaders to cut the ribbon Tuesday on the refurbished entry point, part of a $5 million, multi-year capital improvement project at the 457-bed acute-care hospital.

The 11,000-square-foot lobby, which opened Wednesday morning,  includes a new information desk and an expanded seating area, admissions department and resource center.

Capital campaign money also was used for a new medical center auditorium, to repaint the hospital façade, and for new signs, a new entrance on Ellicott Street and a covered walkway to Colby Park.
