Jeff Miers' Playlist: Whose Hat is This?, Pomrad, Interpol, Alice in Chains, Clutch

Whose Hat Is This?, "Hobo Gigolo Style"

On a day off during a Berlin stop with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, members Tim Lefebvre, Tyler Greenwell, J.J. Johnson and Kebbi Williams hit a local club for an evening of extemporaneous creativity. They loved what resulted, and so do I.

Pomrad, "Knights"
Belgian musician Adriaan Van de Velde and his band conjure the outer-space jazz-funk of early '80s Herbie Hancock. Fans of Knower and Louis Cole, check this.

Interpol, "Marauder"
A back-lit, smoky, late-night platter of post-punk gems.

Alice In Chains, "Rainier Fog"
The third album from AIC Mark II is stuffed full of the mildly gloomy riffs, the heavenly vocal harmonies, and the strident rhythms that made this Seattle band one of the finest heavy ensembles of its era.

Clutch, "In Walks Barbarella"
Clutch with a horn section! This is a full-on funky hard rock banger, and the attendant video is completely hilarious. Crank it up.
