HAPPY HOUR – The Niagara Falls Police Department will host Cocktails With Cops from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday on the sixth floor indoor-outdoor balcony of the Hyatt Place Hotel, 310 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls. There will be a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and music by DJ D. D.

BATTLE HARDENED – The experiences of a Civil War Union Army colonel will come to life at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lucy Bensley Center, 23 N. Buffalo St., Springville.
Mike Lavis, of Blasdell, a Civil War reenactor with the 49th New York Volunteer Infantry, will give a personal perspective to the war through soldiers’ stories. The program, hosted by the Western New York Civil War Society in conjunction with Echoes Through Time, is free and open to the public. For more info, call Tom Place at 957-2740.

FAST FORWARD – Start the new year early on Sept. 1 with a Lockport Monday Night Cruise Optimist Club calendar. The 16-month calendars come in three editions – two featuring classic cars and one with vintage motorcycles, all locally-owned vehicles. Cost is $15 or two for $25.
They are available at Monday Night Cruises for the rest of the season in Ida Fritz Park, 105 West Ave., Lockport; at Niagara Art Trail Gallery, 12 Market St., Lockport; and at several Lockport merchants. The Cruises, which are non-alcoholic family events, begin at 5:30 p.m.

REUNION TIME – A reunion is planned Sept. 8 in DiTondo’s Restaurant, 370 Seneca St., for students from Buffalo’s Old First Ward who attended St. Brigid’s School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School., St. Valentine’s School, Bishop Quigley School and Buffalo Schools 4 and 34.
