Entrepreneurs in Lackawanna may find it easier to establish a business thanks to a recent change in licensing rules, said Jeff DePasquale, Lackawanna city clerk.
Under the new rules, a temporary certificate of business registration will be issued immediately upon receipt of the business application and fee. Before, the City Council was required to formally vote on the license approval during a regular meeting.
“Depending on when the application was submitted and the time of year, there may be a substantial delay,” said DePasquale.
The temporary certificate will be valid until the City Council vote, DePasquale said.
“We need to make this a business-friendly environment,” he said. “We want good businesses to open as quickly as possible. We can’t make them wait.”
