Bills coach McDermott doesn't name QB starter for preseason finale

Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said there were "no further quarterback developments" and did not name a starter for Thursday's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears. He also did not name a starter for Week 1.

He said he wanted to get through practice before naming a starter for Thursday.

Asked about Josh Allen, McDermott said he liked the rookie's poise "to an extent."

In other news from McDermott's news conference:

  • "Unacceptable" is how McDermott describes the Bills being called for 36 penalties so far this preseason, including 10 false starts.
  • Julian Stanford (nose) is described as being week to week right now. McDermott says there were no new injuries to report from the game.
