A Buffalo teenager was arrested Friday on weapons charges after police found he was carrying a loaded handgun which had its serial number defaced, police records show.
Police responding to a report of a person with a gun stopped Willraw Morrison, 17, at about 2 p.m. on Young Street, near Broadway and Memorial Drive, after they saw him leaving a backyard on a motorbike.
One of the officers saw what appeared to be the back strap of a handgun sticking out of a purse on the bike. Police said it turned out to be a loaded firearm. After he was handcuffed, Morrison tried to run away and was taken into custody again and placed inside a patrol car, police said. He kicked the windows of the vehicle causing damage to the door of the rear passenger side.
Morrison was charged with second- and third-degree counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
