Niagara Falls officer probing 'abandoned' vehicle finds pot plants on porch

NIAGARA FALLS – Narcotics investigators were called in Friday afternoon after an officer checking into the status of a possibly abandoned vehicle stumbled onto a porch full of marijuana plants.

Police received a call of a possibly abandoned vehicle in the 200 block of 72nd Street around 1 p.m. Friday and an officer located a pickup truck parked in the area, sporting a pair of flat tires. The registration came back to a man living a few doors away, so the officer walked over to the house to inquire of the man's plans for the disabled vehicle.

As he walked onto the porch of the home, he noticed six pot plants growing openly on the porch, and notified his supervisors, who called in investigators from the department's Narcotics Division.
