An Elma man was issued a ticket for firing a shotgun in a restricted area Thursday night, Erie County Sheriff's officials said.
Deputies were dispatched to an address on Cemetery Road at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday about a report of shots fired. They spoke with Scott Caldarella, 51, who initially said he hadn't heard anything. He later said he set off a firework and "eventually admitted to discharging a shotgun because he was annoyed at the neighbor's barking dogs," sheriff's officials said on the sheriff's Facebook page.
Caldarella was charged with a violation of state Environmental Conservation Law for firing a weapon in a restricted area. He was issued an appearance ticket for Elma Town Court.
