Peace Bridge inspection leads to child porn charges against Georgia man

An Atlanta man was arrested on child pornography charges at the Peace Bridge, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Ibrahim Dirweesh, 34, was sent to secondary inspection as he sought to cross into the U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found videos of child pornography on Dirweesh’s cellphone during the secondary inspection.

The Georgia man made an initial appearance Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr. The judge ordered Dirweesh to be detained following a detention hearing, according to prosecutors.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, a lifetime period of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
