SCHOBER, Russell F.

SCHOBER - Russell F. Of West Seneca, NY was called to his eternal home on August 21, 2018. He was the adoring husband of 67 years of Gertrude E. (nee Duecker) Schober; beloved father of Heidi Salamone and Lisa (Jesse) Fodero; proud grandfather of Lindsay Salamone, Kristen Fodero, and Jesse Fodero III; predeceased by his parents Samuel and Belinda (nee Streichan) Schober; brother of the late Clayton (late Juanita) Schober, and Donald (late Anna Marie) Schober; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends and relatives Friday from 2-5PM, and 7-9PM at the HOY FUNERAL HOME, 3855 Seneca St., West Seneca, NY 14224. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday morning at 11AM at St.Paul's Lutheran Church-Blossom, 360 Main St., Elma, NY 14059. Memorials may be made to St.Paul's Lutheran Church-Blossom or to the SUNY Buffalo State Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Stroke and Hope Aphasia Support Group, Caudell Hall 149,1300 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14222. Mr. Schober served in the Army-Air Force during WWII. His unit a anti-aircraft division participated in an operation known as "Antwerp X", which helped protect the city of Antwerp from destruction by the German V1 "Buzz Bombs". In retirement, Mr. Schober would later spend time at the local high school speaking to students about his war time experiences. After the war, Mr. Schober worked for several companies in Buffalo as a designer/draftsman before retiring from Scott Aviation in 1989. Mr. Schober was a proud member of St.Paul's Lutheran Church-Blossom, Masonic Lodge 1111 F&AM, The Scottish Rite Consistory, and the Ismailia Shriners. He enjoyed gardening, especially garlic, was an avid reader, and Scrabble player. Online condolences may be shared at
