Guide: Eat right with help from these farmers markets

Only one in 10 American adults eat the daily recommended 1½ to 2 cups of fruit and 2 to three cups of vegetables, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"That's shocking," said Kathy Border, a registered dietitian and professor of nutrition in the Dietetics Department at D’Youville College. "We know that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables helps reduce risks of chronic disease like obesity, Type 2 diabetes and some cancers, as well as heart disease. We know there are benefits and yet we don't get enough."
