U.S. Olympian Jim Neil, a 1986 graduate of Canisius High School, is returning to his alma mater to serve as the technical director for the crew team.
"The Canisius High School rowing team has a 70-year tradition of competing at the highest levels and producing top-level athletes," Neil said in a statement. "As a student-athlete alumnus of Canisius High School, I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to help continue that tradition in any way that I am able."
Neil was a member of the U.S. rowing team at both the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He won two gold medals at the Pan American Games and has been selected to the national team 15 times. He'll be developing a training and racing program for the Crusaders.
"We are extremely excited to have Jim Neil join our crew program," Canisius Director of Athletics Jim Mauro said. "The experience and knowledge he will bring to our program will be a huge asset in continuing to move our program forward and the great tradition it has fostered."
