Kaul edged in playoff in NY Women's Senior Golf

Tammy Blyth parred the second extra hole, the par-3 ninth, to edge Kim Kaul of the Gowanda Country Club and win a three-way playoff on Wednesday for the New York State Women's Senior Golf Championship at the Thendara Golf Club in the Adirondacks.

Susan Kahler (Ballston Spa CC) was the third golfer in the playoffs, but she was eliminated when she bogeyed the first extra hole, the par No. 1.

The three tied with a scores of 10-over 156 after 36 holes. Blyth, who plays out of the Monroe Golf Club in Rochester, and Kaul shot 78s on Wednesday. Kahler shot 76. All three missed a chance to win outright on the par-4 18th. Kaul, a two-time former winner of the tournament, double-bogeyed while Blyth and Kahler had bogeys.

Ronnie Levine-Ribble (Penfield CC) won the Super Seniors title, shooting 79-78-157, one stroke better than two-time former champion Cecily Havens (Pompey Club).
