Alden man charged with driving while under influence of drugs

An Alden man was charged Tuesday with driving while ability impaired by drugs following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Alabama in Genesee County, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.

John D. Meiler, 33, was also charged with driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without an interlock device, the Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Meiler at about 7:48 p.m., after responding to a report of a vehicle accident involving property damage on Bloomingdale Road, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies alleged that Meiler had been operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs and with a revoked license at the time, the Sheriff's Office said.

Meiler was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear Sept. 26 in Alabama Town Court.
