Jeff Miers’ Playlist: The Prince Edition

At long last, Prince’s 1990-2015 catalog has been made available on all digital streaming platforms. That’s 23 titles in all. Here’s five of my favorites from this unjustly overlooked period, just to get you started.

"Y Should Eye Do That When Eye Can Do This?" (from “The Slaughterhouse”)

This is funk of the lethal variety.

"Chocolate Box" - Featuring Q-Tip (from “MPLSound”)

Imagine if these two had made a full album together…

"Crimson & Clover" (from “LotusFlow3r”)

Nobody does psychedelic funk quite like prince.

"Musicology" (from “Musicology”)

The man’s manifesto, set to a killer groove.

"Rainbow Children" – Live (from “One Nite Alone… Live!”)

This sounds like live Miles Davis from the electric period. Transcendent guitar work from our man.
