Kim Kaul of the Gowanda Country Club is one of the top golfers in the field for the New York State Women's Senior and Super Senior Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Thendara Golf Club in the Adirondacks near Old Forge.
Kaul is a two-time winner of the event, claiming the senior division title in 2008 and 2015. She was sixth last year. Kaul was runner-up at the State Women's Mid-Amateur last month at Yahnundasis in New Hartford.
It's the fifth time the event has been held at the picturesque Thendara layout.
Mary Sicard (Queensbury) has won the last two years, her first two competing in the event. Cecily Havens of Pompey Club will be seeking her third Super Senior title in four years. Among the other past champions is 78-year-old Sue Sims of Skaneateles, a three-time winner, including in 1996 at Lockport Town & Country Club.
The field of 120 golfers will play 18 holes of stroke play each day. Winners from six age groups will be determined in addition to the overall Senior and Super Senior champions.
