A 19-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of NaKara Morgan at a house party on Schreck Avenue late Friday night, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced Monday.

The suspect, Areyona Favors, was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Debra Givens on Sunday and was being held without bail.

Morgan was stabbed multiple times at the party at about 11 p.m. Friday, officials said. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where died the next day of her injuries. Her death marks the 38th homicide in Buffalo so far this year.

Police announced Favors' arrest on Saturday. If convicted, Favors faced up to 25 years to life in prison.
