Louis J. Volo Jr., 57, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, misdemeanor cocaine possession and various vehicle and traffic violations.

Troopers said they saw an unmarked vehicle speeding on Route 33 about 6:30 p.m. with red and white lights flashing, and other drivers were pulling over to let it pass. The driver turned off the flashing lights when a patrol car approached.

Volo said he was a volunteer firefighter, but troopers determined he wasn't. They said they found a glass pipe with alleged cocaine residue in Volo's car.
