OVERDORF - Pauline Marie Hettlinger
Of Nashville, went to her heavenly resting place at her home on August 6, 2018. She was born August 14, 1935 in Allentown, PA to Julius and Pauline Hettlinger and was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Julius, Erich and Rowland. Pauline is survived by her husband Donald; daughter, Diana Lackey (Terry) of Florence, AZ; son, James Overdorf (Michele) of Orchard Park, NY; granddaughter, Hannah Housmyer (Zach); great-grandson, Eli, all of Queen Creek, AZ; granddaughter, Hilary Lyons (Darin Trimillos) of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Katherine Hess (Robert) and great-grandson James Robert of Orchard Park, NY; brother, Frank Hettlinger of Terre Haute, IN and many nephews and nieces. Pauline graduated from Fountain Hill High School in Bethlehem, PA where she met the love of her life, Don. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Bethlehem, PA with a Registered Nurse Degree and later graduated from State University of New York in Buffalo as a Family Planning Nurse Practitioner in their initial class. Pauline worked for doctors in Springville, NY and Crown Point, IN before retiring in Nashville, TN. She married her high school sweetheart in 1957 and they celebrated their 61st anniversary on June 15, 2018. Pauline adored her children and granddaughters and more recently her great-grandsons. She loved to sing and listen to classical music. Her flower gardens were of much pride for her. She enjoyed golf and traveling, especially in retirement where she had the opportunity to visit Europe four times and visited almost every state in the Union, including Alaska and Hawaii. Always fashionable, Pauline was very particular in how she dressed. An active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Nashville, Pauline was active in Adult Bible Classes and participated on the Altar Committee. A Memorial Service will be held in the sanctuary of Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5110 Franklin Pike in Nashville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or to the Sarah Cannon Fund at the Community Foundation, 3833 Cleghorn Ave., Suite # 400, Nashville TN 37215 or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville TN 37203.
