Rose, born in 1927, grew up in the West Side of Buffalo. A 1945 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, she excelled in academics and class leadership. She attended Sisters of Charity School of Nursing as a Nurse Cadet, and was the 1948 Class President. There she made a lifelong circle of dear friends. After graduating, she worked in New York City and Los Angeles then returned to Sisters as a Clinical Instructor and Labor and Delivery Nurse. She was praised by many families she helped birth as an outstanding nurse with deep warmth and compassion. She retired from Nursing in 1993 after 45 years. Rose was a skillful gardener; and she and Sal were elegant ball room dancers. Rose loved her many adventures and travels with Sal, family and friends. She volunteered at Sister's Hospital, the Marillac Guild and St. John the Baptist Church. Always active and independent, her legacy of love, beauty and contribution will endure forever in our hearts and minds. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose's memory to St. John the Baptist Church or St. Luke's Mission of Mercy. Please share condolences online at www.mertzfh.com
