A tribute to Aretha Franklin will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.
The program will include music, poetry, dance and commentary on the life and legacy of the "queen of soul," who spent part of her childhood in Buffalo. Area singers will sing some of Franklin's most popular songs, and the audience will be invited to reflect on their favorite song by the legend, who died Thursday in her Detroit home at age 76.
The tribute is being sponsored by retired teacher Eva M. Doyle. For more information, call 847-6010.
