Aspire of Western New York will hold a workshop on art for those with disabilities Aug. 31 in the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The facility is operated by SUNY Fredonia State.
Aspire art instructors Heath Bartel and Alex Glenfield will present artistic, musical, literary and cinematic creations of the people with disabilities they serve. The two-hour session also will include a discussion of how various forms of art can benefit those with disabilities by increasing a sense of belonging.
The speakers also will promote Spirit Gallery, in which local artists will mentor with the iXpress community of artists with disabilities. The planned gallery is to include artists' studios and a gift shop selling handmade artisan goods.
