Nichols' Cunningham earns first team all-state girls lacrosse honor

Nichols’ TaNia Cunningham has been named first-team small schools all-state in girls lacrosse by the New York State Sportswriters Association for the recently completed 2018 season.

Cunningham was a fast and tenacious defender who was hard to beat 1-on-1. She forced 48 turnovers, won 61 draws and chipped in with 18 goals for coach Beth Stone's team.

Others earning all-state honors:

Small schools — Third team: Jalyn Jimerson (Lake Shore); Fourth team: Charleigh Rondeau (Amherst); Fifth team: Lois Garlow (Mt. St. Mary), Ivy Santana (Lake Shore).

Large schools — Third team: Morgan Baxendale (Orchard Park); Sixth team: Taylor Gehen (Frontier), Marissa Comerate (Frontier).
