An inmate at the Erie County Holding Center attempted suicide using blades from a jail-issued razor Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
Two deputies "heard a commotion from a cell block area" and rushed to find the inmate bleeding heavily from both arms. The deputies began treating his wounds along with Holding Center nurses. The inmate was turned over to EMTs who took him to Erie County Medical Center. The inmate was treated at the hospital and returned to the holding center.
Sheriff's officials said the inmate "was cleared from constant observation and housed according to classification."
