Former Niagara coach Joe Mihalich to enter the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame

Former Niagara University men’s basketball coach Joe Mihalich will be inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame. During his time with the Purple Eagles from 1998-2013, Mihalich won 265 games as Niagara earned two NCAA Tournament berths and made three NIT appearances.

Mihalich won at least 17 games 11 times in his 15 seasons at Niagara and led the Purple Eagles to a win in the 2006-07 NCAA Tournament over Florida A&M and the 2003-04 NIT over Troy State.

The breakout season on Monteagle Ridge came in 2005, when Niagara went 20-10, won its first MAAC Championship and Mihalich earned the conference’s Coach of the Year honors. The Purple Eagles went to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 35 years.

Mihalich enters his sixth season at Hofstra where he has 88 wins.

The induction dinner will be held on October 13 at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls.
