Bak USA was named a finalist in an MIT competition, with a shot at winning $20,000 and perhaps even more.
The Buffalo-based maker of computer tablets is one of 12 finalists in the 2018 North American MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge, on Sept. 27 in Detroit. The competition awards prizes to entrepreneurs using technology "to reinvent the future of work."
Eight of the finalists will win $5,000. Four other finalists will win $20,000 plus an all-expenses-paid trip to MIT, to contend for a $250,000 grand prize in their award category, in the IIC Global Grand Prize Gala on Nov. 8. Prizes will be awarded in four categories.
Bak USA is being recognized in the competition's income growth and job creation category. The IIC North American region is hosted in collaboration with the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation.
