How do you spell the Erie County comptroller's last name? Use an eye chart

Stefan Mychajliw knows his last name – like Scajaquada – isn't easy to say or spell.

But Mychajliw, the Erie County comptroller and recent congressional candidate, takes the "I'd like to buy a vowel" quips in stride. And he can make a self-deprecating joke when the occasion arises.

On Friday, Mychajliw tweeted about his visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in the Town of Tonawanda with County Clerk Mickey Kearns.

"What a surprise walking into the Northtowns DMV with @ErieCountyClerk Mickey Kearns and seeing my last name spelled perfectly on the wall," he wrote in the post. "Others would call this an 'eye chart.' I call it the proper spelling of M-Y-C-H-A-J-L-I-W. Most definitely need to buy some vowels."

For the record, it's pronounced "muh-HIGH-loo."

If you want to know how to say "Scajaquada," ask Jack the alligator.
