Driver: Dave Bailey
Hometown: Hagersville, Ont.
Division: Hoosier Stocks/Merrittville
Lowdown: Bailey is one of those rare dual surface racers who has found success in recent years in both dirt and asphalt stock car competition. Bailey began his driving career in go-karts at the Hamilton Kart Club in 1993. Bailey then built a Mini Stock for the opening of Ohsweken Speedway in 1996. He also competed at Varney, Ont. After a few years of driving in this class, Bailey temporarily gave up driving after a serious Mini Stock accident and began to assist other race teams.
Bailey climbed back behind the wheel again in 2003, this time in Mini Stocks on asphalt at Flamboro Speedway in Ontario where he raced until 2013. During much of this time, Bailey also competed with the same Mini Stock at Ohsweken. In 2014, Bailey began competing in Street Stock type cars in the Thunder Stocks at Oshweken and Flamboro. Since 2015, Bailey has chosen to concentrate on dirt-only racing, competing weekly at Ohsweken, Merrittville and later added Humberstone. Sponsors include Jibs Action Sports, Queenston Chevrolet; Transport Sales & Service, Transaxle.
Accomplishments: Bailey won the Senior Lite class championship at Hamilton Kart Club in 1994. Bailey also authored five career Mini Stock season championships at Flamboro. In 2007, he captured the prestigious Art Hill Memorial for Mini Stocks at Ohsweken.
Bailey captured Thunder Stock titles at Ohsweken in 2015, 2016 and 2017. At Merrittville, he captured the Hoosier Stock season crown in 2016 and 2017. Not yet finished, Bailey earned the Thunder Stock season honors at Humberstone Speedway in 2016 and 2017. Bailey is a three-time winner of the All-Canadian event at Humberstone. In 2016, Bailey earned Driver of the Year awards at Ohsweken, Merrittville and Humberstone. He claimed the Duel on the Dirt championship in 2017.
