Two Buffalo teams advance to NABF Regional semifinals

Two Buffalo New Era Muny AAA teams are on to the semifinals in the National Amateur Baseball Federation regional.

Friday was the second day of pool play. JAMCO secured its spot in the semifinal after defeating the Fairview Cardinals, 11-1, in five innings. Both teams will advance to Saturday's semifinal.

West Herr won two games, defeating St. John's, 8-0, and Team Deb, 5-2. In the first game, Mark Messina pitched a complete game, allowing four hits. Johnny Flynn had a two-run home run. In the second game, Andrew Tobias pitched a complete game, allowing three hits. Flynn had a walk-off grand slam.

The Fairview Cardinals defeated the Orchard Park Sox, 4-2, eliminating the Sox.

JAMCO will play St. John Lefties in one semifinal at Northtown Center and West Herr will face the Fairview Cardinals in the other at Erie Community College. Both games are at noon today.

The finals will be played at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Northtown. The champion will represent Buffalo in the NABF World Series Aug. 8-12 in Battle Creek, Michigan.
