Tour de Cask tickets available
Tickets are on sale for the third annual Tour de Cask, taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 2 at Flying Bison Brewing Company (840 Seneca St.). The event, hosted by the Buffalo Beer Goddesses, is a fundraiser for the group’s annual Cicerone Scholarship for WNY Women.
Tickets cost $30 (available via EventBrite.com) and include eight half-pint glasses of various cask-conditioned beers from local breweries and food. Those inclined are invited to ride their bike to the event for an extra drink token.
Attendees will also vote for their favorite cask, and the winning brewery will receive the Golden Mallet Award, which last year was awarded to 12 Gates Brewing Company. Call 873-1557.
A Pinot Noir lager
Thin Man Brewery (492 Elmwood Ave.) will release Gorilla Burps, a Pinot Noir lager brewed with French hops, on Aug. 4. The 7.5 percent ABV (alcohol by volume) beer will be available only in-house and has notes of currants, berries and lightly toasted grain. Call 923-4100.
A new IPA from NYBP
New York Beer Project (6933 S. Transit Road, Lockport) will release its new IPA (India pale ale) on Aug. 2. Dubbed The One, the 5.8 percent ABV beer is brewed in the New England-style of IPAs, for a softer bittnesss, creamier mouthfeel and juicier hop profile.
Brewed using Falconer’s Flight, Zythos and Amarillo hops, the IPA yields tropical and stone fruit aromas. The One is being released in honor of National IPA Day. Call 743-6927.
