Niagara University and Merani Hotel Group, which operates three hotels in Niagara Falls and two in Niagara Falls, Ont., announced an agreement Monday to offer internships to Niagara hospitality and tourism students at Merani properties.
Starting in 2020, Merani also will fund a new scholarship for a Niagara County high school graduate enrolled at the university and working at a Merani property. The hotel group already offers two scholarships per year to Niagara students, with no restriction as to their high school.
"We are excited to enter into this educational partnership with Faisal Merani, who has proven himself to be a phenomenal hotelier and businessman, and an equally impressive advocate for the growth and development of our region,” said the Rev. James J. Maher, the university's president.
