St. Mary's Kegler announces transfer to Canisius

St. Mary's High School football and basketball player Eric Kegler announced on Twitter he is transferring to Canisius High School for his junior season.

The transfer will become official pending the final processing of paperwork and registration, according to Canisius athletic director Jim Mauro.

"I just felt like it was the best move for the future joining a well-rounded school in academics and athletics as well," Kegler said via direct message.

Kegler has played two seasons of football with the Lancers, starting last year at receiver; and served mostly as the sixth man of St. Mary's basketball team in his only year with the team. He was the only sophomore on a team with 10 seniors.

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound Kegler finished with three catches for 80 yards and also made 11 tackles for St. Mary's, which primarily ran the ball last season.
