Temple Beth Tzedek has a new rabbi.
Rabbi Samuel Barth was chosen to head Western New York's largest Conservative Jewish synagogue.
“Temple Beth Tzedek is thrilled to welcome Rabbi Barth as our full time Rabbi," said Andrew Gewurz, Beth Tzedek's president. "He joins us at an exciting time in our history as we prepare to move into our new home on North Forest Road this fall."
Barth was born in Israel and studied mathematical physics at Sussex College in the United Kingdom before being ordained at Leo Baeck College in London. He has served as a full-time or consulting rabbi in several synagogues, including in Westchester, N.Y., Brooklyn, Austin and Gloucester, Mass.
Barth succeeds Rabbi Perry Netter, who moved with his family to Israel.
