A West Seneca funeral director died in a motor vehicle accident Sunday night on Transit Road, according to Lancaster Police.
Paul A. Kloc, 77, of Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapels in West Seneca, was identified as the victim. Kloc was taken to Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus, in Cheektowaga, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
A post on the Lancaster Police Department Facebook page said Kloc was entrapped in his vehicle and had to be mechanically extricated.
Police said Monday that the accident, which occurred at about 9:15 p.m., was part of a criminal investigation and declined to provide more details.
A 49-year-old male driver from West Seneca was arrested. Police said he "displayed impaired speech and motor coordination, along with the odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath." He was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where a court order for a blood draw was authorized. The suspect, whose identity was not released by police, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
A portion of Transit Road, northbound and southbound between French Road and William Street, was closed to traffic Sunday due to the accident, as reported by NITTEC.
