A Dunkirk man was arrested Sunday and charged by State Police with two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree attempted burglary, third-degree burglary and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
Steven Rice, 30, was arrested after troopers responded to a report of criminal mischief at a residence in Kennedy. Troopers said the resident saw Rice punching a door and shattering the glass before breaking into another resident's pole barn.
An investigation revealed that Rice threw around multiple items in the barn, causing damage. Rice was transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown for treatment of hand injuries from the glass door at the initial caller's home. Rice was arraigned in Town of Ellicott Court and held without bail in Chautauqua County Jail.
