A 16-year-old Cheektowaga boy was arrested over the weekend for allegedly shooting two state highway workers with a paintball gun July 20, State Police investigators said.

Jamar P. Bailey was arrested Saturday, following an investigation by Buffalo police and State PoliceĀ Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He was charged with a felony count of assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment and prohibited use of weapons.

At about 8 a.m. July 20, Department of Transportation employees were working on a bridge base on Olympic Avenue in Buffalo when someone shot them with a paintball gun from a 2006 Honda Accord. Both victims were struck and treated for minor injuries.

Bailey was arraigned in Buffalo City Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $100 cash bail. He is scheduled to return to court Thursday.
