Niagara Falls woman punched by stranger while awaiting car repair

NIAGARA FALLS – A city woman told police that a stranger punched her in the face Friday evening while she was waiting for her car to be fixed at a Pierce Avenue repair shop.

The victim, a 40-year-old South Avenue resident, told police she was waiting at the shop in the 1500 block of Pierce Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when she was approached by an unknown man. She told police that the man – who appeared to be either intoxicated or otherwise impaired – threatened to kill her, then without provocation punched her in the side of the face.

The victim sustained a cut near her ear and swelling, police said. The suspect fled on foot and was located by police a short time later.

Clifton J. McNeil, 45, of Whitney Avenue, was charged with third-degree assault and third-degree menacing.
