The Wheatfield Lions Club will host a community forum on combating the opioid epidemic, in memory of Thomas P. Witkowski, son of one of the club members.
The session is set for 6 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Lions Club, 6535 Ward Road, Wheatfield. State Sens. Robert G. Ortt and Chris Jacobs and Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello will headline a panel of public officials to discuss government efforts to address the crisis.
Witkowski died May 31 of a heroin overdose in his Niagara Falls apartment. He was 42.
Tom Witkowski, the overdose victim's father, said his son was a skilled plumber who spent most of his income on drugs. He used drugs for about 25 years, Witkowski said.
