Unidentified female body pulled from Lake Ontario

An unidentified body was found early Saturday in Lake Ontario, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday.

The body was of a female, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Identification of the body will be handled by the Niagara County Coroner’s Office after an autopsy is performed.

The body was found by a boater and reported to the Sheriff’s Office at 10:15 a.m, according to deputies.

The Olcott Fire Company, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office, recovered the body off the coast of the Town of Newfane.

Deputies said anyone with information about the body should contact Investigator Michael Leggett of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, at 438-3338.
