Two face drug charges after 1.2 kilos of heroin, 1 pound crystal meth seized

Two Georgia men were arrested on drug charges Thursday after they were stopped by State Police in Wyoming County and troopers seized from them what was allegedly about 1.2 kilos of heroin and about 1 pound of crystal methamphetamine.
Juan Martinez-Vega, 47, and Giovanni Ramirez-Soto, 26, of Jonesboro, Ga., were each charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers stopped a vehicle with an Alabama license plate for a traffic infraction in Warsaw, State Police said. The vehicle was operated by Martinez-Vega, who was found to be driving without a valid license. Ramirez-Soto was a passenger.

A K-9 alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, State Police said. A search resulted in the seizure of about 1.2 kilos of suspected heroin and about 1 pound of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Martinez-Vega and Ramirez-Soto are being held at the Wyoming County jail.
