The Buffalo Bills signed defensive tackle John Hughes on Thursday to fill out the 90-man roster.
Hughes, 29, takes the spot vacated by the release of Tenny Palepoi on Wednesday.
A third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, Hughes spent most of his first five seasons with the Browns and signed a four-year, $14.4 million extension in 2015.
He was released by the Browns early in the 2016 season and has been with four teams since and active for just 14 games in the last two years. He spent days with the New England Patriots after his release and then finished the season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent most of last season with the New Orleans Saints, despite being released twice. He finished the season on injured reserve after suffering a torn biceps in late December.
