WNY Driver of The Week: Bob Bogner

Driver:  Bob Bogner.

Age: 65.

Hometown: Orchard Park.

Division: Street 4/Hillside.

Lowdown: Bogner can be seen in the pits wearing his trademark cowboy hat. He began racing at age 16 in the Go-Karts at Concord (NY) and Batavia. During his seven-year Go-Kart career he mixed in Enduro Go-Kart road course competition at Watkins Glen, Mosport and Mid-Ohio. After a long hiatus from competition, Bogner returned to competition in 2008, driving in the 4-Cylinders at Wyoming County. Bogner ran two seasons at Wyoming County before switching the next two years into the same class at Lancaster. During his Lancaster years he also ran occasionally with the 4-cylinder Mini Stocks on dirt at Freedom and Genesee. Since 2012, Bogner has driven at Holland/Hillside in the Hornets, now Street 4.

Accomplishments: Bogner won Heavy class Go-Kart races at both Concord and Batavia.  He is a one-time 4-cylinder feature winner at both Wyoming County and Lancaster. He has emerged victorious in at least one feature race each of the last three years at Holland/Hillside including a few weeks ago. Last season, Bogner finished tied with Bob Palmer for the Holland/Hillside Street 4 title with Palmer prevailing on a tiebreaker. Bogner is the 2011 Lancaster Speedway Sportsman of the Year.
