Victim in shooting in Jamestown dead

The victim in a shooting early Tuesday in Jamestown has died, according to Jamestown Police, and the man accused of shooting him is now facing a second-degree murder charge.

David F. Waggoner, 54, who was taken into police custody at the scene of the incident, was held in Jamestown City Jail, according to Jamestown Police.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting shortly before 9 a.m. on Livingston Avenue, where they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was taken to UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital in Jamestown. From there, he was airlifted to UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa. The victim, who had been in critical condition, was removed from life support at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jamestown Police said.

Jamestown Police said an autopsy will be completed Thursday by the Erie County, Pa., coroner to determine the cause of death.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
