After Dark adds the Joy Formidable, Avi Buffalo, more to fall schedule

Downtown Buffalo's newest music venue has wasted no time filling up its fall musical lineup.

In a flurry of announcements over the past week, After Dark Entertainment's new space the Rec Room (79 W. Chippewa St.) added a number of shows to its growing schedule, including the Joy Formidable for 7 p.m. Nov. 9.

The British indie trio made a splash with its 2011 debut record "A Big Roar." The album included the soaring single "Whirring" and would go on to become a blogosphere favorite.

Additional Rec Room shows announced over the past week are performances by shouty punk outfit Iron Chic at 6 p.m. Sept. 28 and the anthemic heartland rock group Restorations at 7 p.m. Oct. 18.

While not at the Rec Room, After Dark also added a couple Mohawk Place gigs (47 E. Mohawk St.), including former indie buzz band Avi Buffalo, set to perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, as well as Boston's DIY ska act Big D & the Kids Table at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29.

Advance tickets for the shows range from $8-$25 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. July 27 through the venues' ticket offices, or charge by phone at 893-2900.
