The Republicans have made a Faustian bargain. They will not criticize anything Donald Trump says or does as long as he nominates their preselected nominees for every federal judgeship.
He can separate immigrant parents from their children without judicial review and with no plan to reunite them, denigrate the FBI and intelligence services at home or in a foreign country, demean the elected leaders (and our friends) in Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and France. He can undermine NAFTA, NATO and European Union. He does not need preparation to meet with Kim Jong Un or Vladimir Putin or advice from his staff.
He can laud his accomplishments with little accounting where they diverge from facts.
When is this country more important than party? When is this country more important than the next election? If not now, when?
