Jamestown man charged in shooting that left victim in critical condition

A Jamestown man is facing attempted murder and first-degree assault charges following an early morning shooting Tuesday.

David F. Waggoner, 54, was held in Jamestown City Jail pending his arraignment on the charge, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting shortly before 9 a.m. in front of 114 Livingston Ave., where they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported by Alstar Ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital in Jamestown. From there, he was immediately airlifted to UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.

The victim was reported to be in critical condition Tuesday. Police declined to release his name.
