Jason's journey on "The Bachelorette" is over.
Becca Kufrin said goodbye to Buffalo native Jason Tartick on Monday night's episode, which narrowed the field of suitors to two – Garrett and Blake.
Jason's journey ended midway through the two-hour episode after Becca first told the audience she felt "weird" during a great date with Jason in Thailand.
She then got up and left Jason at a romantic setting and told the audience she could see a future more with Garrett and Blake.
"I'm in love with two other men and I don't think it would be fair to Jason if I kept him around if I didn't see us getting there at the end," she said.
She couldn't explain to Jason what she was feeling other than they wouldn't get there at the end.
Jason handled it with class, looking sorrowful in the limousine that took him away but without tears.
"I'm pretty shocked right now, I just didn't see that coming," said Jason. "It is a tough feeling … I don’t have answers to the way it ended."
Becca said through tears that Jason is "such a good guy. He is such a good person."
Then she referenced what happened to her on last season's "The Bachelor" when Arie Luyendyk Jr. first picked her and then blindsided her by changing his mind and picking Lauren Burnham.
"Jason is one of the best men I know," said Becca. "Like I literally did to him what Arie did to me."
Well, not quite.
Jason returned about 45 minutes after being eliminated, presented an album of memories to Becca and did tear up talking about developing feelings for her that were beyond his expectations going into the program.
Becca responded by telling the audience whoever eventually gets Jason's heart "is going to have to treat him like a king. He deserves only the best."
Jason and Becca will always have their Buffalo visit to remember.
In the episode a week earlier, Jason and Becca ate chicken wings at the Anchor Bar and played hockey at the Harbor Center in an episode that included quick shots of Delaware Park, City Hall, the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, the Peace Bridge and Niagara Falls.
Jason was a great advocate for his hometown. He told Becca it is "a special place" and "has made me who I am."
You could tell he loves Buffalo. However, his story line over the arc of the episodes was his inability to remove his guarded personality and tell "Becster" – his new pet nickname for her – he loves her.
He dropped his guard in the hometown episode in an "I love you speech."
In the same episode, Becca said, "I know I am falling for him hard," says Becca.
But she also was falling for three other guys in the episode.
"I could really see him as my partner for life," said Becca. "And his kisses – they're the best."
Unfortunately, Becca said similar things to Jason's competitors. Except for the kisses.
Garrett, a medical sales representative from Nevada, has been the seasonlong favorite, according to websites that follow every move of "The Bachelorette" on and off screen.
