Canisius College has received a $685,351 state grant for building state-of-the-art health labs for the college’s graduate program in physician assistant studies.
Some funds from the New York State Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program will be used for equipment. That includes digital anatomy tables, practice mannequins for skills development, and computer and audiovisual equipment to record and play information for case studies.
The grant program offers a $1 match for every $3 raised for capital investment.
“Higher education is a catalyst for economic development and for providing well trained professionals in high needs fields, and [this grant program] recognizes the significant role that schools like Canisius play in their local economies,” said Sara Morris, the college's associate vice president for academic affairs.
