Buffalo City Hall to go dark Monday night in memory of Toronto victims

The iconic dome atop Buffalo City Hall, which normally glows at night with spotlights, will be darkened Monday night in a show of sympathy for people killed and hurt Sunday in a mass shooting in Toronto.

Mayor Byron W. Brown announced the effort late Monday afternoon.

An 18-year-old Toronto woman and a 10-year-old girl from the Toronto area were killed Sunday when a lone gunman walked along Danforth Avenue shooting at pedestrians and firing into restaurants. Thirteen other people were injured in the harrowing shooting, which happened around 10 p.m. in the city's popular Greektown neighborhood.

The shooter, 29, was found dead after an exchange of gunfire with police, according to The Globe and Mail.
